IQ Landscape Architects worked with the architectural firm Lessard Group, in creating a new riverfront enclave in Tarrytown, NY known as Hudson Harbor. The developer, National RE/Sources, had envisioned this once industrial brown field as a vibrant mixed-use transit oriented community. Dedicated to a sustainable community and green homes, eco-friendly products and systems have been incorporated into all aspects of design. All residences are LEED certified and Energy Star Registered. The theme for the buildings and site elements was developed by recalling the architectural and landscape history of the Hudson River Valley, as well as the local character of Tarrytown and surrounding villages. Detailed guidelines were developed for signage, lighting, mailbox clusters, pavilions and garden elements. Community gardens, public parks and town squares were also integrated throughout the development.
