Hoboken Cove Park - Hoboken, NJ

  • IQ Landscape Architects served as design consultants to the City of Hoboken, New Jersey, in preparing a conceptual Master Plan for a seven acre waterfront park.  The parcel was the site of a former shipyard, once synonymous with Hoboken’s history and cultural heritage.  A majority of the city’s industrial sites and brownfields along the Hudson River have been reclaimed as parks, plazas and esplanades, creating a contiguous public greenbelt along the waterfront.

The new Hoboken Cove incorporates diverse amenities for both active and passive recreation.  A ballfield and an intergenerational play area are located to the west side of two bridges which connect Hoboken to Weehawken.  The eastern section of the park is devoted to waterfront activities offering dramatic views of the Manhattan skyline.  The areas under the viaducts are included in the parks design providing connectivity between the park sections and opportunities for recreation.  Sustainable measures have been introduced, including rain gardens, wind turbines and a green roof on the proposed boathouse.
