Garnersville Art Center - Garnerville, NY

  • The Garnerville Art Center (GAGA) located in the hamlet of Garnerville in Rockland County, New York was once the site of a thriving pre-civil war textile mill.  The sprawling historic facility is now the home of a vibrant artisan community. IQ Landscape Architects was commissioned to develop a comprehensive master plan which introduced new, diverse uses such as live-work units, performing arts facilities, and restaurants.

The vision plan calls for exposing a creek which weaves throughout the property by removing some more recently built structures and embracing it as a natural resource and cultural element.  The firm also looked at how to integrate additional parking for occupants and also for special events with minimal visual and environmental impacts. Other amenities proposed included an outdoor amphitheater, creek side cafe, and an art trail.
