Golf Club at Purchase - Purchase, NY

  • Westchester County is generally considered to be the birthplace of golf in the United States with many of its golf courses world renowned.  One of the newest and most beautiful of these is a Jack Nicklaus signature course recently completed in Purchase, New York and known as Hickory Pine.

As members of a Project Team, IQ acted as landscape architects for a new 30,000 square foot Clubhouse. The firm was responsible for the site planning of the facility and a 150 car, tiered parking lot which will service the Club.

The building recalls the era of elegant, sprawling clubhouses which grace some of our Country’s more historic and prestigious courses. Ceremonial lawns and mature plantings surround the building. The clubhouse is sited high on an existing knoll so that visitors may take advantage of long fairway vistas while dining on the outdoor terraces and verandas.  A site vocabulary of natural masonry materials for walls and pavements compliments the traditional style established by the architects for the building.

In addition to the immediate clubhouse surroundings, IQ also provided design services for perimeter golf course areas.  Treatment for fairway buffers, golf cart paths and screening of an adjacent residential development was also be addressed
