East Hartsdale Ave. Citizen Park - Hartsdale, NY

  • The Town of Greenburgh saw the potential to develop a small underutilized corner lot in a busy, mixed-use area of Hartsdale as a passive park for the growing senior community.
The Town commissioned IQ Landscape Architects to prepare the design, plan and working drawings for this highly visual area.  The design developed by IQ recalls images of a small urban park in France with a central bosque of shade trees providing the focal point of the park and shade for seniors sitting on benches and using game tables. Red crushed gravel highlights the center courtyard and meandering paths bordered with steel edging.  Flowering trees and accents of Red Cedar provide visual relief for an existing tall stone wall which serves as a backdrop for the park.
